Reach And Wash Window Cleaning, Does It Really Work?

In london and other cities in the UK window cleaning firms will more than likely use a water fed pole or reach and wash system to clean at heights otherwise considered too risky to get to via tradditional ladder access.

Contrary to what some window cleaners believe, it is not against the law in the UK to use ladders for short periods of time.

It would be wrong to believe that ladder use is illegal but many window cleaners still misunderstand the law in the UK.

But how, may you ask does the water fed pole system work and will it give me the same results as a traditional clean?

Water is made up of a single atom of oxygen and two atoms of hydrogen hence the term H2O. These atoms exist as two charged ions in water. A hydrogen atom is a positively charged hydrogen ion; the other is connected to the oxygen atom to form a negatively charged hydroxide-ion.

The water purification process removes all mineral and particle impurities from the water enabling it evaporate naturally without leaving behind any trace mineral deposits on the surface the water was on, but there are other benefits of using pure water to clean windows that are not as straight forward as one might imagine.

A fact that is not widely known about pure water is that it performs in the same way as a solvent, as the water is in an unaturally pure state it will aggressively fight to return to its more natural “impure” state, absorbing dirt on contact.

Without the science lesson, pure water eats and absorbs dirt on contact and after all dirt is removed the final rinse with pure water will dry leaving perfectly clean smear free glass.

Light brushing with a monofilament brush attached to a carbon composite pole that feeds pure water up to heights of up to 70 foot will ensure streak free clean windows with out the high risk and high cost methods of past.

Hydrostorm, used by a leading window cleaning company in London evaporates almost 6 times faster than the water it is mixed into, leaving only trace elements of a hydrophobic polymer behind on the glass surfaces. This molecularly thin layer of completely transparent rain repelling polymer will keep windows and glass surfaces clean for far longer than normal, significantly broadening the gap between cleans.
