Do not ever paint over mold as a way of solving the problem. Some will say that the best way to deal with mold is simply to paint over it and pretend that it isn’t there. Mold has been known to feed on the paint you put over it causing your problem to escalate rather than go away. Don’t believe in any product that claims to be “mold killing” where paint is concerned.
If you have any leaks in your home: leaky faucets, pipes, windows that don’t match up to the structure of the house and let in cool or moist air, etc, plug them up. You want keep the dampness out of your home as much as possible. This is because humid air brings about mold and other types of pathogens. Plug the links, make repairs, and install new fixtures. Handle whatever you must to be certain that you home is free from dampness. And of course, ensure that those seals are not dirty.
Because mold and mildew thrive in damp dark places you can use sunlight to help dry them out and kill mold spores. You’ll quickly see the suns bright rays drying out the mold and effectively killing it off. So if you are seeing signs of mold on furniture, drag it outside for a few hours. Voila! All gone.
Don’t ever try to take on black mold yourself. If you mold issue is ever so serious in which the mold escapes into the walls or fixtures of your home, then you have to stop trying to handle the problem on your own and call a professional. Anything that takes a long time to fix should not be handled on your own. Black mold should especially be handled by only experienced people in this area.
