Keeping On Top Of Household Cleaning

October 26th, 2011

If you find that you are always doing a manic dash around the house cleaning for several hours anytime a visitor is due you are working too hard. Simply by completing a small amount of general upkeep on a regular basis you can save yourself a lot of time and energy.

The bathroom is easy to keep on top of by building the cleaning into your morning routine. As you finish in the shower wipe it down straight away, then do the same thing with the sink. When this is done you can wash down the outside of the toilet before doing a quick clean with the toilet brush.

If you struggle to keep up with the laundry, put a load on first thing each day. There will then be plenty of time to dry and fold it later on. Picking clothes up in the bedroom will keep the floor clear and tidy and just making your bed every morning will make you want to jump in it again the next night.

Spend five minutes every evening putting away the toys, recycling papers and tidying things into their proper homes in the living areas. You will then not have to face the mess the next day and you will be able to get straight in to a quick dusting before you leave the house.

You can use your dishwasher as a way of keeping stuff off of the kitchen counters. Put dirty crockery straight in the machine and turn it on as soon as you have a full load. Wipe the counters down each night after the cooking is finished.

If you keep on top of these little cleaning jobs you will then only need to set aside a little time once or twice a week to clean the floors. Hopefully, the next time you have guests you will only need to spend ten or fifteen minutes giving things a quick spruce up.
