How to Eliminate House Smell

There are many different causes of house odors. Though such odors may not pose harmful effects to your health immediately, it is certainly not a sign that the home is unclean. Living in house with different odors is definitely not a pleasant experience; such odors may even cause your house to sit on the market for months when you wish to sell it. You must learn ways to eliminate the different odors in your house.

The smell of mold is very common especially for those humid houses or humid areas in your houses. You may find the strongest mold smell in your wardrobe. To remove such mold odor, you may simple put a piece of bath soap or a small bag of tea into your wardrobe. The small bag should be thin enough to facilitate air flow.

Though I do not smoke, cigarette smell is left after my friends smoke in my house. What I usually do is to open all the windows and wait for the cigarette smell to go away. But I find this method not really effective unfortunately. In fact, you can use white vinegar for help. Soak a cloth with white vinegar and wave the cloth in your house. The vinegar quickly neutralizes the cigarette smell.

With the “heavy traffic” in my bathroom every day, it sometimes smells despite my regular cleaning. Instead of using chemical deodorizers, white vinegar can again help remove the smell. It is really simple. Just put a small cup of white vinegar in your bathroom and you will have the smell eliminated.

Smell of paint is common for a house after refurbishment or renovation. This smell makes you uncomfortable even in a newly renovated house. Dissolve some salt in cold water and leave the solution (in bucket) in your house for 2 days to eliminate the smell. You can also substitute the salt with onions.

When you notice a bad smell from your kitchen, it is mostly likely to be generated by your trash can. For metal trash can, you may try the following method. Burn a piece of scrap paper inside the metal trash can. You can get rid of the smell after the complete burning of the piece of paper.
