Kitchen cleaning can be a very tedious household chore if not done regularly. Food spills in the oven, and on the table and counter tops can be very time consuming, once left over time. A kitchen that is full of clutter and mess is also susceptible to health and safety risks. It is important to keep it clean and organized all the time.
Household chores shouldn’t put a lot of strain on our time and energy. Various cleaning strategies can be applied to maintain proper sanitation in the kitchen without spending too much time in there in cleaning up mess. Performing some measures to prevent the build up of dirt and mess in the first place will definitely spare you from the tedious kitchen cleaning sessions.
1. Pots, pans, dishes and other cooking utensils must be kept clean. Burnt foods left at the bottom of the cooking utensil and on the dishes are sometimes hard to remove. A great way to save time in scraping off dried food left over on dishes is to soak them first in soapy water before washing or loading in a dishwasher.
2. Don’t go to bed leaving the dishes unclean on the kitchen sink. Dish washing can be very tiresome especially when you have many members of the family. Unclean dishes invite insects and bacteria, so it is important to immediately wash them as soon as you can. It will be better if you ask each member of the family to cooperate in the household chores by washing the plates they have used after eating.
3. Prevent scrapes and scratches on sinks, when washing sharp objects, with the use of a rubber mat at the bottom of the sink. To keep the sink sparkling clean regularly wipe it with a clean cloth and vinegar.
4. Food spills and drips, when cooking and serving, are also very common in the kitchen but often consume much of our time in removing them. Preventing spills directly on the kitchen surfaces will save a lot of your time in cleaning. Use paper towels to catch spills by laying it down in the area where you are serving food. Covering the cooking utensils, when baking in the oven, will also help to prevent food splatters in the oven.
5. Baked foods left inside the oven can be removed quick and easy by heating a cup of water with vinegar or lemon juice. Letting it stay inside the oven for few minutes will soften the food drips that have dried in there and eliminate bad odors inside.
6. Keep the kitchen germ and bacteria free with the use of disinfectants. Use only natural disinfectants to ensure safety. Using disinfectant wipes is also a safe and fast way to disinfect many surfaces in the kitchen.
